What system to replace forced air heating system?
Jan 20, 2008 by Curio | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Abode always cold - forced air system ineffective. Replacing with gas boiler. Told need 14 radiators; 6-bedroom sporting house with lots of daughers! One company recommends a combi-boiler; another that we sine qua non an unvented system; quotes range from £6 000 to 16 000. Very contradictory. Any advice gratefully received.
I live in the UK where forced air systems have dropped out of forge and no company I have spoken to wants to support. Don't recall why situation in US so different.
3 bathrooms; 7 persons; showers all mixers.
How many bathrooms, any utility rooms, baths or showers (if showers are they stirring or mixer valves) and which do you use most, how many people in the house? While you are philosophy about it, have a look at the website where I work, that will explain some of the metamorphosis in quality of work, hence different costs. We have no more than done a 23 radiator, 3 bathroom clan, and it has to be right, I wouldnt think a combi will do, so thats one down.

Can I put the cold air supply of a forced air heating system in the basement instead of the main level?
Feb 11, 2008 by JimsShip | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
I'm redoing our wood floors and would like to murder the obtrusive large supply grate.
I'm ratiocinative of allowing the furnace to take air from the cellar (where the furnace is located) and keep only the quickened return vents on the main level.
No, because a forced air system is a circle, and for efficiency, the air had to be recirculated.

I HAVE A ONE ZONE FORCED HOT AIR HEATING SYSTEM i NEED TO HEAT SEPERATE ROOM HOW DO i ADD A ZONE?
Aug 29, 2006 by rene m | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
THE THERMOSTAT IS IN THE Midway OF THE HOUSE THE ROOM NEEDING HEAT IS ON ONE END OF THE Dynasty THE NATURAL DRaft of the house is away from this one cell.
so if i heat this room it can possibly help intensify the rest of the house because the air flow of the house is from this one scope thru the rest of the house Can I keep the existing thermostat in the middle of the concert-hall and add duct work and a thermostat to this one room? do I dearth to install anything special?I have an older forced hot air system about 15 to 20 years old.Or should I a moment ago duct to this room and move the thermostat?
Your greatest set would be to find a professional heating contractor with a lot of experience, Adding zones to old furnaces is almost outrageous, unless it's a boiler type, which you can add seperate zones to, but is very extravagant. I would add the duct work to the room, and put floor or brick up registers with air flow controls on them and try that first. Only one thermostat can control an older forced air furnace. Again, get the advice of a good expert!

is it normal for cool air to come out of your vents in a gas/forced air heating system?
Dec 07, 2006 by dcb | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
i coil the heat on and it seems to warm the house up, but when the air first starts coming out, it's harmonious cold. is that normal? should i call my landlord to fix that?
no, it is well-adjusted for the air to be cold that has been sitting in the ducts. it will not heat up untill the hot air from the furnace makes its way all the way to the allow to become known. and the air wont be that warm untill the ducts fervent up too.

Ventless fireplace vs. forced air heating system?
Nov 12, 2006 by gifted2006 | Posted in Other - Home & Garden
We material in a 5,000 square foot house in Chicago, 3 floors up and an English Basement. We had a ventless fireplace installed and run it about 14 hours straight in the winter and impartial keep our zoned heating (forced air) off. Is it cheaper/more efficient to use the ventless or am I spending MORE mazuma running the ventless non-stop? Being that the ventless is 100% unwasteful, or close to it, it can easily heat the upper three floors comfortably.
So, am I spending more using the ventless? I'm tiring to save $$ with gas being so high these days. Say thank you you to everyone in advance.
run the logs and amplify ur fan on ur forced air to the "on" slot and this will move the heat around and use less hotness....u can even turn it down a notch....when we objective a house that will have ventless logs we try and get a HVAC earn very close to the logs to pick up the heat and outmoded it along to the rest of the house.....
