Homeowners -- What alternatives to oil heating systems would you consider?
Jul 25, 2006 by -- | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Those of you with alternative heating systems, can you mention me roughly how much monthly in the winter you pay for heat and what part of the US you loaded? Also, I am interested in solar options? Any info? Acknowledge gratitude you!
Wow thank, what is the best option in the Northeast, I amazement. Oil prices really are starting to scare me and we may be replacing our system promptly.
it depends , not many heating sources gives the amout of quicken you may be use to with oil, about the only 2 are gas furnaces and water or steam boilers, solar will not in close, although a heat pump may be considered if you continue in a more warm climate, but what the sales people dont talk you is at about 42 degrees a heat pump is poor, and electric is an option,. if you are in a climate that tends to consume power alot and stay below 20 degrees , i wouldnt go there,

Anyone know anything about alternative heating systems with electric radiant heat.?
Mar 17, 2007 by Leslie G | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Opulence Cove or Radiant Systems, Inc out of Valentine, NE
If you have median air you could consider forced air heat, simply return your blower with a forced air furnace, run your gas line to it and air-hole it, if not and you live in a ranch type home it can still be installed in the attic. If you don't have appropriate gas on your street you can consider propane as a fuel, if there is a gas absolute local to your home the gas co. will probably connect you enfranchise of charge. Generally the reasons for having moving radiant baseboard is that there is no gas available or the builder was barely "cheap". hope this helps.

Alternative to natural gas for heating in NYC?
May 27, 2008 by questiongirl | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I white-hot in an apartment in West Harlem, and have switched to a close power for electricity, and am wondering if there is any way to switch to vibrations for heating as well (both for the floorboard heaters and for water heating).
We have an in-apartment bear scrutiny heating system powered by natural gas. I was wondering if there is anyway to switch to electrifying water heating without violating the terms of our lease (which does not prepare for for us ripping out the water heater and gas piping:).
Any assistants would be appreciated.
you dont be to switch to electric hot water . the cose it to much... if you have apartment and permission a chimney so you can put in a wood burning stove.. most wood is safe from palletes and scrap..

Alternative to British gas for central heating service contract?
Oct 31, 2006 by PETER F | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I currently paying £14 a month to British gas to covering the servicing and maintenance of my combi boiler and important heating system.
Are there any other companies out there which offer a simlar service?
Yes there are. Most admissible corgi registered plumbers will service or will propound someone who can service your boiler. It should cost you about £70 increased by any parts needed. It should save you money as most boilers will if in equitably good condition not need parts replacing that often.

How much to install an air and heating system in basement?
Mar 06, 2008 by cutekara34 | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I foresee on finishing my basement (850 sf) and need to have knowledge of the average price to install a heating and air conditioning piece. Also, are there any cheaper alternatives?
Well I don't recognize if you need to worry about the A/C part but the furnace and duct-trade would be between $4000 - 5000.00 in Minnesota. A/C can be added at anytime as elongated as routing refrigerant lines to the furnace quarter is accessible.
For central A/C you could add another$2000.00
You could save some money by doing it yourself but you might end up with a below par designed system.
