Can a natural gas vent free heater be changed to propane?
Oct 24, 2006 by ecathyshaffer | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
Unquestionably, but then again maybe not. The orifice is only one component that may need changing.
In reality, you could get away with peening and re-drilling the existing orifice if you had to. However, unpremeditated gas is generally supplied at 8" water column strain, propane at 11"w.c. Therefore, you may need to succeed the pressure regulator and/or control to safely accomplished the conversion. I suggest you heed the answer above by "my_iq_135".
If you do it incorrectly, you could liability your family with carbon monoxide.

Charmglow Vent Free Natural Gas Heater?
Nov 15, 2006 by Seraph | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I have installed this NG !0K btu heater & it works okay.
However this model has no thermostat.
It Has two settings Low or Hi.
Some times even the low environs is too hot.
I have adjusted the knob to in between the Lo & Pilot position
This reduces the warmth & gives me a Lo Lo setting
However there is a Note saying do not run inbetween
settings. Is there a safety concern & if so what is it ?
I have done this succesfully overnite. I can't find any fabricator number to ask this. Anyone know ?
Also is there a way to add a thermostat to Gas Heater ?
It sounds old. There is no way to add thermostat. Might look into replacing or it could be pluged not allowing co2 to slip off through the top of the heater. Sorry no good answer for you.
hope this helps

Charmglow natural gas vent free heater?

How do i fluctuate it from natural gas to propane gas
If Charmglow is still being manufactured you neediness to contact them for a conversion kit. They will provide the correct parts and a new rating dish for the correct type of fuel. If charmglow isn't still in responsibility, I recommend you take this to someone who is qualified to do burner conversions. They will do the imperative modifications and then attach a new rating plate for the appliance for the new stimulate. You see, what you are doing here is "altering the appliance". If you do that without proper approvals and people are misery or property damaged, you will be fully liable. Indemnity companies will not cover you!
Don't take short-cuts on this, it's not good it! There is 20 years experience as a gas fitter and a trainer to the propane dynamism behind my statement. Good Luck with it!

it should do it since the fire is lit on the pilot., You may have to wiggle that patsy a little, when the the knob is in the ON position make trusty the OTHER knob is on high if they is one. that would be the thermostat.
