Had to do some repairs in an uninsulated shanty that had already been shut down for the winter.
Had a small ceramic heater & borrowed a larger Sharper Trope tower type in case I had to spend the sundown.
Between the two, got the place from around 40 deg in AM to 67deg by afternoon.
Sometimes use the small one, which oscillates, in a back cell at home when it gets really cold & fluent.
Best regards

Sep 21, 2008 by xayanexchanx | Posted in Other - Home & Garden
I am at college, and my latitude has no heating vent. So I bought a small inadequate osculating portable heater. My dad kept saying they were dangerous. So what are some refuge tips I should take with this? Also, what kind of surface would it be safe to set this obsession on?
I anticipation the brand you bought is a ceramic heater with the oscillating , digital temp & timing features (they have them in Lowe's for about $35.00...they are hot and shut down instantly when knocked over - and instantly impertinent down. You can set it to come on at a particular temp and shut off when it reaches another.
Your dad is suitable about the danger portion - all appliances have a danger quotent.....increased by he knows his adult child and people in regular - heed his advice and all will go well.

The Vornado is the finest I have ever used. It is small, compact and completely dependable from burning down your shelter. It can heat a whole room very with no- you will be amazed at its power for such a small tabletop item. I wouldn't buy anything else personally.

Which one is most economical portable electric heater for home use?
Oct 29, 2008 by momer79 | Posted in Other - Home & Garden
Hi, which one is most thrifty electric heater to use at home. I am looking for one which cost less in running.
Rout Regards,
I bought a The Honeywell Electric heater HZ-519 which was rated #1 by consumer reports for $55 on amazon. It worked artistic for three months, then the weather warmed up and I put it away. I fired it up this year and it worked superb for 3 weeks and just quit.
I ended up buying a DeLonghi Vapid panel heater cause it was rated highly according to consumer reports, gain it doesn't take up a whole lot of space and looks pretty fashionable. So far so good as far as performance.
I am just using it as supplemental stimulate and I'm not trying to heat the whole house, but the room is rather strapping and the Delonghi is doing a great job doing what I covet it to do. Check out consumer reports and they will show you the best and most productive heater for specific square footage.

What's wrong when the plug & cord of a new portable electric heater gets very hot when in use? What's remedy?
Oct 21, 2008 by Mary J | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I tried the heater in another edifice and the plug & cord of the heater do not heat up. Is there a problem with the wiring in the first line? And how do I solve it?
The above-board answer is it is drawing too much current when the cord heats up. Why?
1. Was the shelter where the cord heated up cold and the other house not dead, If so the heater was defective and drawing too much current.
2. If both houses were about the same temperature then you must have a voltage mess in the house where the cord heated up. Check you voltage with a meter or call an electrician to constraint out that house.
