How much would it cost to add a heat pump, 3.5 ton to my electric furnace?

I have whole shelter air I want to replace with a heat pump.
Hello Ragtop:
More report is needed to provide a quote.
In what part of the world do you reside?
Do you have adequate power available to run the outdoor piece? Will you need to hire an electrician to run the power to the out of doors unit?
How far from the indoor unit will the outdoor element be located?
Will the lineset have to be run through any concrete walls?
Without aware where you live, the layout of your home, what model, manage and features of the heat pump you want, the closest quote I could give would be somewhere between U$2500 and U$10,000.
To get a well-advised quote, call three HVAC companies in your area and ask for a call up.
If you have natural gas close by, go with a gas furnace and A/C.
Consider an Oil fiery furnace; new ones are highly efficient, cleaner seething, and can burn bio-diesel fuel. Cost of excited fuel oil is considerably lower than electricity.

i'm getting a new heat pump because the one i have now is a two ton entity for an 1800 sq ft house. i had one dealer tell me that the 8 consume vents i have in the house is too few for a three ton unit. is this true? no one else that has came out has mentioned this. oh, and a side absurd. what do you think of the 13 seer 3 ton amana heat pump.
400 CFM per ton, 100 CFM per make known
Simple math. The guy is doing you a favor by being above-board, the others are simply trying to get into your pocket.
As to the Amana, owned by Goodman the low value low end leader in the industry. They don't impress me as good grandeur.
Look at Rheem, they are high quality well built and operate up well.
But do increase the number of vents and have your ducts (biggest trunks both supply and return measured for seemly sizing for the increased airflow needed for the 3 ton system) Your ducts may necessary changed out for larger sizes to work correctly with the larger unit. This could become costly. Add a good strainer as the built in filter racks tend to be a toil to deal with and only provide proper airflow when the strainer is new. Look at Air Bear by Trion or the April Air 5000 by Delve into Products.

Will a 2 ton heat pump cool a 3 car garage in arizona ok?
Aug 23, 2008 by grace g | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I have a 609 sq. ft. garage with a 10' ceiling, the garage panels are insulated and all 3 walls , but not the lid. What cooling issues might I run into and would a larger module be more cost effective. I have a Lennox 13HPD-024 or an Aire-Flo 2HP13B24p...which is outstrip for this? Thanks!
1 ton for every 4 hundred on a par feet
so a 2 ton will work.

I have only 146" of free area where the filter sits, for my Rheem Classic 3 ton heat pump. OK?

An a/c serviceman came out last week and cut into the re-emergence duct next to the furnace and installed shelf to hang on my pleated filter. I had been using larger hogshair ones. The preferred space for air to pass through is only 17 1/4 x 8 1/2" at this patch where the shelf is. This gives me only 146 sq. inches of unconditional airspace at this spot. The rest of the duct is 14" x 22". It would seem that this has restricted my airflow. How much democratic area do I need. It seems to be cooling ok but I am worried. Thanks for any answers. Peggy
Acknowledgement you for your answers. This smaller space for the air to go thru has actually resulted in more air coming thru the vents and the blood being cooler. I guess it is kinda like putting your be master of over part of a garden hose as the water is coming out, and the distilled water comes out harder and faster. What is the downside of this as far as price to the unit? The Arm & Hammer pleated filter I have there now is a Merv 8. It is a 12 x 20 - however part of it is overlapping the edges of the metal shelving - so only 17 1/4 x 8 1/2 is over the launch area. Am I better to put the hogshair screen back in. Is this less restrictive - until I can get the A/C tech back out here to enlarge the opening.
