What have you heard about the Amana 13seer 3Ton heat pump?

We had two distinct companies come out and look at our unit and we want a new one. Hobson Air the Comfort Experts came out and did all the measuring and sizing and that is what they yearning to put in. However I dont know anthing about the brands of the society. So has anyone worked with Comfort Experts Hobson Heating and Air? Or has anyone purchased a amana heat pump and have a evaluate. I live in texas and the heat pumps are the way to go due to the climate.

Add your BTU's at home... They all bank on and add up.
Make sure your home is insulated contents your attic. This can reject the outside temperature by 10 degrees, when is common cold it won't be too cold, and when is hot outside it won't be too hot. Then, you should rate getting a gas unit, because your compressor only work on summertime, rather than using it all year hunger cutting the life of the unit in half. A drayman unit, because they are efficient and last about 25-30 years. Other brands won't last as hunger. You should get the 410a refrigerant on it, because R-22 is not going to be around anymore after 2010. I seem that you should get the higher SEER possible, because you got a lot of money. lol
Oh by the way... What's the stigmatize Amana never heard of it.

How can I force an Amana heat pump to turn on? Is there a way to do it independent of the thermostat?

I have an Amana heat pump. The thermostat ceased to confer with the heat pump. I replaced the thermostat batteries, which did not help, so I replaced the thermostat. That did not facilitate either. I was wondering if there is a way to force the unit to turn on to see if there is power to the heat pump. I cannot be able a service call right now, so I am trying to help myself. Thanksgiving owing to you, Barbara

Hi,Barbara
The most talented way is to check voltage with a multi-meter. You will see a double on the side of the unit, there will be a large grey wire entering at the bottom of this cubicle. The item you are looking for is in there. However first check your breakers, there are two, one for the indoor and one for the alfresco unit. Make sure they both are on. If they are then you have other issues. Many units have a bob switch below or behind your hvac filter,if that pan is full of water it will sealed up the unit off either inside outside or both. If that is the case honourable it out ,if you can blow it out with an air hose. You can go outside, find the drain and suck it out ith a research vac. Beyond that you need someone with electrical experience. There is 220 volts comming into the component. this can hurt or kill you. Odds are you have voltage. Most indoor units have a 5 amp consolidate that can stop the unit. On your thermostat the fan has a auto and a on whereabouts, push that to on.If the fan runs after 90 seconds your 24 volt transformer and thermostat are proper. If nothing runs your problem very well could be something i've mentioned here.Should the indoor piece run but not the outside you have issues with the condensing unit. This should be checked out by someone with electrical familiarity,or better yet a hvac tech. Some outside units have a breaker in a miserly box 0n the house beside the a-c. If this is off ,turn it on if it has a small handle it is a pulltype and is on. The shelf of this response requires the above mentioned experienced individual. They need to look at the contactor points are they pulled in ? is 220 volts comming in and current out? Is the capacitor good? Some times they are bulged and oil comming out for unavoidable bad other times you have to test them.Is the charge good ? Most units have a low side cut off. Does the constituent seem to be running but the compressor is not? Is the fan running to cool the entity? If not it will all shut down.See my point? The first part of my answer you can do,after that you need guages ,tools meters ,and affair. Please do not try that on your own. If you have questions you can e-mail me at yaket2003@yahoo.com. Your have doubts was hard for me to answer as usually i give advice to practised techs. and i don't want you to get hurt. Attractive thorough luck George

I have a new 14 seer Amana heat pump.It came with r410a. The contracror installed R22 by mistake.?

For the last 30 days the stsyem never did employment right. We called a new dealer and sent a sampler. the test shows both oils mixed. We longing a new unit the contractor wants to drain the mix and put R410a. Please help us prove that are new unit has been damage.

It will definately be damaged..in a temporary period of time.. This will also void the manufaturers assurance and warranty..the two oils in these seperate refridgerents are not compatable..draining them will do nothing but a fleeting fix, and you will have latter problems...This is why A contractor has to carry general hindrance insurance..Also read this..r22 in virgin systems have been outlawed in places..and as well it will not be abvailable after 2009...You will not be capable to recharge your heat pump with it afterwards..read this link under users of r22 and HCFC's...This contractor made no misapprehend mix up with..he is trying to use his r22 up while he can...

Now announce the link below real important..save it to your favorites and impress it out..It will be TOTALLY ILLEGAL in 2015 for anyone to even work on a part containing r22..Replace this unit before you have problems..it is on the contractor..

What is wrong with my heat pump?

I have an Amana heat pump that is 6 or 7 years old. For the last 3 years when I go to rebuff the heat on I have had problems. The oustide compressor will not come one and an Amana ceremony tech has worked on it several times and it still does this. We have this stew every year now. Can anyone tell me why the compressor would keep doing this or what is causing this?

There a several factors that can keep the outside unit off, while in the heat pump mode. Typically or the most common would be the alfresco thermostat (the outdoor air must be low enough to close the stat) or the defrost in the good old days b simultaneously delay board has failed the the defrost recycle which would in turn allow the heat inside to work but change off the outdoor unit. There are many other things it could be though, ie...control wiring, contactors, capacitors, sanctuary controls....hope this helps a scant more history might help...

how many heat exhaust vents would i need in my home for a three ton heat pump?

i'm getting a new heat pump because the one i have now is a two ton entity for an 1800 sq ft house. i had one dealer tell me that the 8 use up vents i have in the house is too few for a three ton unit. is this true? no one else that has came out has mentioned this. oh, and a side consideration b questionable. what do you think of the 13 seer 3 ton amana heat pump.

400 CFM per ton, 100 CFM per dump
Simple math. The guy is doing you a favor by being equitable, the others are simply trying to get into your pocket.
As to the Amana, owned by Goodman the low bonus low end leader in the industry. They don't impress me as good superiority.
Look at Rheem, they are high quality well built and over b delay up well.
But do increase the number of vents and have your ducts (greatest trunks both supply and return measured for good sizing for the increased airflow needed for the 3 ton system) Your ducts may necessary changed out for larger sizes to work decently with the larger unit. This could become costly. Add a good exclude as the built in filter racks tend to be a torment to deal with and only provide proper airflow when the weed out is new. Look at Air Bear by Trion or the April Air 5000 by Into Products.

The Amana Heat pump at my house. It's a 2.5 tonne unit, and was installed in 2005. I haven't been very satisfied with it's performance ...
