Natural, Combustible gas detectors: do they work?

Interested in purchasing a combustible gas detector. Are these things salutary, or does it do more harm than good?

I mean, if (God veto) there's a gas leak in the house, and this thing goes off, wouldn't this id cause an explosion since there's electricity direction through it to trigger the light/sound?

Yep, they toil. Nope, there's very little danger of the detector causing an tantrum. The reason is this...the detector will go into alarm mode Elongated before there is enough concentration of gas to be explosive. The "lower tense limit" of a gas is the concentration in air that will allow the gas to ignite. Where one lives stress gas detectors will alarm when the gas reaches about 10% - 25% of the LOWER limit. You will be alerted in oodles of time to take action.
