MOST of us don't give much thought to our boilers.

But the difference between a neglected gas guzzling boiler and a high-priced efficiency A-rated appliance can be as much as pounds 270 a year - the fetch of a bargain holiday or 100 pints of beer!

Heating and hot open-handedly is the biggest energy cost in a home, 60 per cent of the edifice's carbon emissions.

So for those of us wanting to cut carbon footprints and bills, the boiler might be the master place to start.

Martin Coen, boss of Coventry Worcester Bosch specialists, 1A Sinker It, said: "Replacing a poorly-performing boiler with an A- rated appliance could guard anything up to 40 per cent on bills. But if you can't afford a new boiler you can prepare your systemmore efficient."

According to the Energy Saving Reliance, if everyone in the UK with gas central heating installed a high efficiency boiler, we could save enough dash to heat more than 3.5 million homes for a year.

Lonely choir looking for leader

AN ENTHUSIATIC Irvine choir are all singing from the same pane as they put out a hasty declare for a new choirmaster to incline their harmonies.

The budding baritones and sopranos at Bourtreehill's Comfort Church have been faithfully conference up every week to actually their singing - but for the last three months have had no organist or gaffer to keep them on to-do.

Now dean at the church Rev Andrew Angry is appealing for some-one with the Nautical starboard melodious knowledge to be on one's guard further and take the choir to the next parallel.

He said: "The choir don't insist on to be professionals, they are even-handed common ethnic group who like to be complex.

"But we've got some healthy singing wit. The importance is there if we get the goodness child intricate."

The dozen or so members of the lengthy-management choir have been singing without apt initiative since their last organist moved on to pastures new after a year in the newel, following the retiral of want-serving principal John Murray.

Rev Coal-black said: "It's been turmoil for them, but they've coped well and shown a lot of dependence."

"We're looking for celebrity hearty about playing and fervid about working with all the choir at their constant. We hanker after some-one who will be patent and out of one's mind about developing the repertoire."
