One central heating radiator not working - why?
Nov 30, 2006 by janet g | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I have recently had a doorway made and the central heating pipes to my conservatory radiator were diverted around the new doorway. Thus they now have 90 order bends. All system works except this one radiator, could there be an airlock? Have bled radiator and there is no air equitable cold water. Whilst bleeding there is a hissing spread within the radiator. The pipe going to the radiator is cold. The radiator has thermostatic valve.Any suggestions? Its unprepared out there LOL.
You as likely as not need to bleed the radiator that is at the end of the run. It may take a while for the air to get all out. You can install a automatic air bleeder on all the radiators which will protect you future problems

Gurgling water noises from my vertical designer central heating radiator?
Feb 24, 2008 by Steve | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
Anyone out there recollect how to solve a gurgling noise coming from a vertical deviser radiator. I have bleed the radiator and no air escapes. Water pressure is ok.
There should be a paltry valve on the side of the radiator. They don't cost all that much. Try replacing it with a new valve.
This should take pains of your problem. I think they run any were from $5 to $15 dollars depending on the valve and you should be capable to find them at your local plumbing or heating and cooling store.

how much to fit a central heating radiator?
Sep 02, 2007 by markillst | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Can anyone give me a ballpark (or think twice) price to remove and replace a radiator on an open fasten on pipe system. the new rad would be a different size so some cutting and replacement of overspread pipe necessary. Got a quite a few need doing so deprivation to get an idea.
Cheers
. This neighbourhood has some useful info @ http://www.eere.liveliness.gov/consumer/your_home/space_heating_cooling/pointer.cfm/mytopic=12580 ; ...
"...One-pipe systems use mechanical air vents on each radiator, which bleed air as steam fills the system and then discontinue automatically when steam reaches the vent. A clogged air orifice will keep a steam radiator from heating up. Air vents can sometimes be cleaned by boiling them in a O and vinegar solution, but usually need to be replaced. " ...

If you have 5-6 radiators to return, I bet the entire piping system should be replaced! It must have plenty of rust and range in the pipes which will loosen and plug up the new radiators. Extra new radiators might require smaller pipes.
IF £100 seems inexpensive for each radiator, I suppose the pipes can be replaced for £1000 IF the walls don't destitution to be torn up!
I'm sure a plumber would give a disburden estimate plus free info. Get TWO estimates, or 3.

How do I fix a minor leak from a central heating radiator? Is it a repair an amateur could easily do?

It only starts leaking after it's turned on.
It's at the valve at the bottom of the radiator.
If it only leaks when you take up it on, don't turn it on and off so much, but if you remove the white head, there is a spindle underneath, at the scurrilous of the spindle is a nut, tighten it slightly (do not overdo it or the valve won't go bottoms up a surface on again), if that cures it, it will be ok provided you don't mess too much with it.
