If central heating flues are replacing chimneys on new houses.. - Should Santa go on a diet..?

the way things are at the twinkling money wise, he may not come at all

How can I tell if my central heating system is sealed or not?

The boiler is a an Idyllic Elan2, balanced flue and serves the heating and hot be unfeasible tank.

You will have a cylinder somewhere, it may say on there vented or unvented (the latter is sealed system), if you have storage tank/s too, then it is a vented system.

i have a council house with solid fuel central heating which has been condemed. The flue has had it?

the conclave wont repair but will install oil instead. does anyone distinguish where i stand legally.

I don't expect you have any choice in the matter, the council will go for the cheapest alternative, which is not always the best.Maybe also in your area, oil is more available than gas.

why is my central heating boiler making loud explosions on ignition it is intermittent. balanced flue gas?

it seems to be more at evensong time when it is loudest

call a srvice make right awayit needs checking.

When my central heating is on i get a strong smell like onions in the room above where the boiler is?

We have a back boiler in our front lodgings, the water pipes from it run up inside the chimney tit and then go under the bedroom floor (that the smell is in) and run to the water tank in the airing cupboard next to the allowance. I've lifted the floor boards in the bedroom and the sniff seems to be coming from where the pipes go down to the boiler. I can see no leaks and the spray level in the header tank hasn't dropped. The boiler has a flue that goes up the chimney titty and was serviced within the last 3 months. If i turn the heating off and just run the hot sprinkle the smell seems to subside markedly.

I cognizant of nothing of boilers but searching the web turned up this:
You may want to have your adept in tested for carbon monoxide gas. I used search collocation: boiler smell and got some nice results. I pasted some of these below. If you didn't have the hard before the boiler was serviced, it may be an additive that the serviceman familiar to maintain the system. (Or he may have ropped his lunch in by accident, Lol).
Call your overhaul professionals and ask if the odor was to be expected from something they had done.

Central heating a home in Portugal

Central Heating Boilers

The two most banal boilers installed in Central Portugal are Oil and Gas.

Over the last few years we have talked to lots of people about their conception of the system that they have installed and are using.

This is not a scientific piece of research but it does give a very convincing feel for what to expect when you choose either Bottled Gas or Fuel Oil. We have not made any superiority between the two types of bottled gas which are Propane and Butane.

There is no “Ministry Provided Gas” in Central Portugal

Price wise it seams that if gas is a Lilliputian cheaper in one part of the year oil is cheaper in another so they just about even them selves out.

Oil boilers miss to be serviced by an engineer every year. The typical cost of this is 200 Euros and should number a new oil filter, new burner nozzle a hoover out of the burning nook and a chemical flue and fire box clean.

Incidentally our engineer sent by the maker charged 30 Euros for the same product that we can buy at out DIY store for under 6 Euros.

We have heard a lot of complaints about people who have had problems (no heat) when they have had a distribution of dirty or contaminated oil. These problems can be frustrating and time consuming to combine out.

Propane is often preferred for central heating over butane as it burns cleaner and hotter. Gas systems only desideratum servicing every 3 years and to not normally require boiler parts to be changed regularly.

Both gas and oil are delivered without you having to anything other than call the supplier.

Don’t keep in view same day service !

Our recommendation. If your home is used only as a holiday haven. Install Gas as you will have a more reliable system that should work instantly when you turn it on. Keep a liberate bottle of gas or two on hand if you have central heating.
