How can I drop the pressure for my central heating combi boiler system, there is no drain off point in pipes?
Oct 17, 2007 by jonboy | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
There are no finish valves in pipe work or on rad valves. Dearth to drain down central heating to remove some pipe.
There should be a sap at the lowest point in the boiler. If not then just slowly unthread or cut the tooter you want to remove and catch the water with buckets. Before you achieve the job you should add a drain in the boiler to allow sediment to be drained out.

Central heating combi boiler makes a noise like a maniac is loose inside with a hammer.?
Mar 25, 2008 by Alias | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
This only happens when the boiler starts up from chilling. The noise will recur when the system is left to go cold again ie. if all the rads are turned off, when a rad is turned on it triggers the 'distant starting' noise again. When running normally there is no alarums apart from the very quiet normal running noises. This charivari also occurs when running hot water from a cold boiler.
I fantasize it is caused by the expansion vessel but I can't be reliable. any suggestions ?
It may be the burgeoning tank, you need to contact the manufacturer.

Can you put a central heating combi boiler in a bedroom?
May 09, 2008 by sufyanmastersp | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Yes, providing all the hackneyed rules regarding boiler installation and flue fingers on are followed but it can be a bit noisy if you're trying to rest in there.
The boiler takes the air it needs from the air outside via the flue, so you have no worries about it sucking the oxygen out of the apartment. The exhaust gases also go out via the flue.
EDIT: As extended as the boiler is correctly maintained and fitted there is no true risk of a carbon monoxide leak, but it would be proper to fit a carbon monoxide alarm in the same room.

How do I connect my wood burning stove to my combi boiler central heating set up?
Dec 18, 2007 by Adam B | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
I have a mainly wood burner. I have no idea what make it is but i be informed you can connect stoves up to your heating with some sort of boiler tailor-made to the back of the stove. I wondered about conectiong the radiator next to the fire. And having a zig zag of pipes across the back of the stove to pick up enthusiasm and then send it round the system? IS that possible?
You will paucity a Dunsley unit to operate and cross anchor the stove and boiler, a few alterations are required, to say the least!!

Any ideas on where I can get a good value condensing combi central heating boiler - live in UK - Bristol?
Oct 09, 2007 by ells | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
Worcester Bosch and Vaillant are deemed by most to be the defeat boilers in uk, (most reliable and best quality), if you are just looking for the boiler which is currently the most economic, look at hvac as suggested. May be worth checking guarantees, WB give their accredited installers a 5 years vouch for. Rich, above me is a sheet metal worker who owns hvac and doesn't become visible to be corgi registered, just thought you should be sure.
