Does anyone have an Oreck Air Purifier, and if you do what do you think? Is it worth it?

Many of those filters are over prices. Don't get me terrible I could not live without one. But this is what I use:
http://www.target.com/Hamilton-Lido-TrueAir-3-Speed-Allergen/dp/B00008R9PG/sr=1-3/qid=1197932050/ref=sr_1_3/602-2267242-8319838?ie=UTF8&measure=target&field-browse=1038576&circumstances=price&rh=k%3Aair%20purifier%2Ctgt%5F3%3AHamilton%20Seaside&page=1
The device is cheap and it works as a matter of fact well. From time to time I forget to turn it on and in the winter I find myself unqualified to breath (neighbor smokes.) I turn it on and in about 20 minutes the air becomes make a revelation again.
I usually put in on high for about 1 hour at first - and then put in in mid to low and keep it there.
Good Success rate.

oreck air purifier and tobbaco smoke?
May 08, 2007 by abc_piper | Posted in Cleaning & Laundry
what is the largest way to clean the tar off the metal filter? i tried the oreck size and it doesn't work. will using frank green or something similar affect the "ionic" properties the cheesecloth claims to possess?
The ionic properties are a consequence of the electric current passing through the plates. Rid oneself of them with dish detergent and hot water. Dry them completely before putting them back in. The attitude you're wiping off is what you and your children are breathing into your lungs.

please help me choose the best air purifier between oreck XL table top and airfree Onix 3000?
Nov 08, 2008 by bert | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Im planning to buy air purifier for our extent, the one thats no need to replace filters promote its too expensive. im choosing between oreck table top and airfree onix 3000, can anybody pinch me choose the best or is there any other purifier thats better that doesnt difficulty to replace the filter?
Justifiable looked at the specs for the Onix3000 & I quite do not understand how this thing is capable of doing what it claims.
There is no ooze to trap cigarette smoke particulates, pollen, mold, pet dander or any other sort of particulate matter.
There are no fans, so how does it effectively move any abundance of air, let alone 5,200 cubic feet of air...that's a room 10 feet astray & 65 feet long, with an 8 foot ceiling.
If there are no replaceable parts, what develops the sterilizing initiative...their 'blue anti-stress light'? I about not ! ! !
I also looked at the Oreck and it is much better, design wise, than the Onix, however, while it may purified some of the air around it, I do not believe that it can scrub the air (the technology used in submarines) as it is too trifling.
Replacing the standard filter, in your home heating & air system, with a micro particulate dribble will trap more particulates and clean more air at less than 1/12 of the cost of the Oreck & less than 1/9 the payment of the Onix.
In my opinion, these things may do, initially, what they say they can do, but will NEVER do what YOU Ponder they will do for you...it is physically impossible given their size & create.
Actually, I do not believe any of these small, table top of whip units will perform to your expectations.
Just the id of a mechanical engineer.....
Good luck...

How exactly do I clean the Oreck XL air purifier?
Mar 06, 2007 by kinkeebug | Posted in Other - Home & Garden
My grandmother simply gave me a refurbished Oreck XL...it's working gargantuan but it didn't bring the manual. I heard it's suppossed to be effortless to clean...can anyone tell me just how? Thanx.
we have one of these all you have to do is unscrew the front plating and take out the filter wash with cold water until even towel dry and re-insert also just wipe off the face and top with a dry cloth to get rid of dust and hair that settles on top. Advantageous Luck!
