Is the air from the Sharper Image Ionic breeze air purifier supposed to smell funny?

I reasonable bought a used ionic breeze air purifier, but the air coming out of it doesn't whiff that great. Is that normal? What's the deal? Thanks!
Yes, I characterize as it's normal. I had one in the office for a while, and even after cleaning it and everything, it smelled a smidgin strange. Maybe that's because our noses are so worn to the smell of dirty air.
It's similar to the sympathies when you drink distilled water.

Does an "Ionic Breeze Quadra" literally purify and move the air around a room as well as a less-marketed, often less-expensive HEPA leach device?
depends on if you miss to buy replacement filters or not. I have a smaller version of the ionic breeze,about a foot aged, and tho it doesnt move air like a fan does, it does move enough air to fabricate the dirt stick to its filter rods. its extraordinary how much it picks up. I live in a dusty state, so I have to polish them once a week or so, but thats all dirt I am not breathing. It does produce ozone, tho, which some say is not good for you, so I turn mine off at night when I am in the chamber. But it keeps the room smelling fresh while it is working. I have also tried several gauze type cleaners, also, but I dont like haveing to buy the valuable hepa filters, and while they do filter the air pretty well, it gets to be a cut to the quick, because the store may discontinue them after a while, and I have to search for some other place to get them, etc. The ionic breeze never needs a trickle, tho, I just wipe it down with a couple of handi wipes once a week, and thats it. I bought mine at a stinginess store for 5 bucks, tho... so Thats positively a discount from the Sharper Image price.

The occurrence of ionic breeze is when high voltage charges the air around an element. This voltage excites the untouched by electrons of molecules of air surrounding the element causing them to accelerate away from the basics. This excitation and subsequent acceleration creates the "ionic breeze" which can be felt. Rumour has it then these electrons then seek out dirty air in the room.
A "semi-weekly" air cleaner may use a media filter with a blower to suck smudged air through the filter to clean the air. There are also Electrostatic Precipitators that direction the particles as they pass through an ionizer and then collect them as they go to the gatherer section.
The biggest difference is that most air purifiers have a blower to move the air, this will permit more air in a room to be cleaned.

I'd be tickled pink to hear if they really purify the air being it smoke filled air (cigarettes) or otherwise. What brands can you stand up for for good purification of inside air?
Last year a co working man and I did alot of reading in consumers guides and online. I ended up with a fan powered hepa clarify. The ionic air cleaners take out somewhat smaller particles, but in sealed abide tests they could not outdo the hepa filter form air cleaners at cleaning the whole volume of the room. -- You'll discern they advertise how much stuff you find on the vanes, but not what percentage of contamination they can rub from the air. The Ionic cleaners without fans aren't much use around dogs that flake off, my coworker found. The links below are not the original ones I acclimated to when researching, but the info is similar.

I've seen many disputing reviews and some positive. Don't know whether to take help of the money back guarantee...
I've heard nothing but bad things about them. don't have particular experience with the full sized ones, but I bought a car sized ionic breeze from the Sharper Statue store on ebay, it worked ok for 2 days then out of the blue stopped and wouldn't work again. They wanted the opriginal packaging for the profit but I had tossed the box. Their customer service people were big pains in the a$$ and I had to groan several times before I could get a refund.
Their "money back pledge" means they guarantee to give you a hard every so often if you try to return their faulty products.
