please help me choose the best air purifier between oreck XL table top and airfree Onix 3000?
Nov 08, 2008 by bert | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Im planning to buy air purifier for our latitude, the one thats no need to replace filters provoke its too expensive. im choosing between oreck table top and airfree onix 3000, can anybody remedy me choose the best or is there any other purifier thats better that doesnt dire to replace the filter?
Precisely looked at the specs for the Onix3000 & I genuinely do not understand how this thing is capable of doing what it claims.
There is no gauze to trap cigarette smoke particulates, pollen, mold, pet dander or any other model of particulate matter.
There are no fans, so how does it effectively move any amount of air, let alone 5,200 cubic feet of air...that's a room 10 feet deviant & 65 feet long, with an 8 foot ceiling.
If there are no replaceable parts, what develops the sterilizing vitality...their 'blue anti-stress light'? I contemplate not ! ! !
I also looked at the Oreck and it is much better, design wise, than the Onix, however, while it may clear some of the air around it, I do not believe that it can scrub the air (the technology used in submarines) as it is too teeny.
Replacing the standard filter, in your home heating & air system, with a micro particulate leach will trap more particulates and clean more air at less than 1/12 of the charge of the Oreck & less than 1/9 the cost of the Onix.
In my opinion, these things may do, initially, what they say they can do, but will NEVER do what YOU Intend they will do for you...it is physically impossible given their size & think of.
Actually, I do not believe any of these small, table top of boarding units will perform to your expectations.
Just the point of view of a mechanical engineer.....
Good luck...

Does anyone have an Oreck Air Purifier, and if you do what do you think? Is it worth it?

Many of those filters are over prices. Don't get me unseemly I could not live without one. But this is what I use:
http://www.target.com/Hamilton-Careen-TrueAir-3-Speed-Allergen/dp/B00008R9PG/sr=1-3/qid=1197932050/ref=sr_1_3/602-2267242-8319838?ie=UTF8&table of contents=target&field-browse=1038576&priority=price&rh=k%3Aair%20purifier%2Ctgt%5F3%3AHamilton%20Shore&page=1
The device is cheap and it works in the final analysis well. From time to time I forget to turn it on and in the winter I find myself impotent to breath (neighbor smokes.) I turn it on and in about 20 minutes the air becomes blameless again.
I usually put in on high for about 1 hour at first - and then put in in mid to low and keep it there.
Good Destiny.

oreck air purifier and tobbaco smoke?

what is the surpass way to clean the tar off the metal filter? i tried the oreck dinner and it doesn't work. will using severe green or something similar affect the "ionic" properties the screen claims to possess?
The ionic properties are a effect of the electric current passing through the plates. Stand the test of time them with dish detergent and hot water. Dry them completely before putting them back in. The plug you're wiping off is what you and your children are breathing into your lungs.

My grandmother no more than gave me a refurbished Oreck XL...it's working talented but it didn't bring the manual. I heard it's suppossed to be temperately to clean...can anyone tell me just how? Thanx.
we have one of these all you have to do is unscrew the front portion and take out the filter wash with cold water until pure towel dry and re-insert also just wipe off the skin and top with a dry cloth to get rid of dust and hair that settles on top. Advantageous Luck!
